7 Books to Help You Become a Better Wife
As you try to figure out marriage, here are 7 books to help you become a better wife.
As a wife, I’m the first to admit I need help to become a better wife. As Titus 2:4 so often reminds me, as a younger wife I need to be trained how to love my husband.
(Whew! I don’t have to intuitively know how to do it! I need training!)
Aside from gleaning wisdom from older mentors and learning from the Bible, these 7 books have helped me so much in my quest to be a better wife:
A Wife After God’s Own Heart by Elizabeth George
I love Elizabeth George’s insight and teachings, and A Wife After God’s Own Heart (both the book and study guide) are so helpful when it comes to figuring out the basics.
The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian
Stormie Omartian’s book, The Power of a Praying Wife, has helped my marriage like nothing else. Of course, what really did the help was prayer. But the book is a fantastic guide.
Finding the Hero in Your Husband by Dr. Julianna Slattery
When you’re feeling like your husband is less than your hero, Finding the Hero in Your Husband is a great way to change your perspective. The book deals a lot with wives’ expectations … and how wives can use their power for good.
Capture His Heart by Lysa TerKeurst
The 24 chapters in Lysa TerKeurst’s Capture His Heart are so short … but they’re chock full of helpful information. I like taking a month to read one chapter a day.
Praying God’s Word for Your Husband by Kathi Lipp
Like The Power of a Praying Wife, Kathi Lipp’s Praying God’s Word for Your Husband is a fantastic marriage changing book – because it focuses on the vital importance of prayer.
Love Unending by Becky Thompson
Keeping the flame alive in marriage once you become parents is a huge challenge. In fact, it might be one of the biggest continual challenges you’ll face as husband and wife. Becky Thompson’s book, Love Unending, addresses this head-on, and helps wives figure out how in the world to keep investing in marriage in the middle of raising kids.
Making Your Husband Feel Loved
In Making Your Husband Feel Loved, 20 different Christian wives share their perspectives and ideas on marriage. I love reading the different ideas and unique tone from each wife.
I was recently challenged in Elizabeth George’s book, A Woman’s High Calling, to spend five minutes a day reading about marriage as an investment in my marriage. As we do that as wives, our lists of favorite marriage books will grow. And we’ll each be challenged and equipped to become a better wife!
What are some of your favorite books to help you become a better wife?
